Searching Ensembl

Ensembl offers several routes to find information in our huge databases.

  • Keywords - Text search finds gene symbols and descriptions, marker names, protein and cDNA accession numbers, diseases and clinical syndromes and much more by keywords. Most features annotated in genomes are also indexed in our web-based text search engine. Search results are automatically linked to Ensembl data displays. More...

  • Sequence Similarity - BLAST or SSAHA finds sequence similarities between a particular query sequence and Ensembl gene, transcript or protein predictions, as well as the masked or unmasked genome sequences. More...

  • Genomic Coordinates - ExportView finds genome sequence regions and features annotated therein by their physical coordinates. More...

  • More Complex Citeria - BioMart finds features on the basis of combinations of many different criteria. This web-based data mining tool provides a convenient set of pre-defined filters, which can be used to narrow down a large gene set. The broad range of filters based on many different criteria renders this tool highly flexible. More...
